Milestones


  • 2012

    The first prototype of MammoWave, our X-Rays free mammogram based on microwave, is constructed and patented (inventors: Gianluigi Tiberi and Giovanni Raspa).
  • 2012-2014

    Test in phantoms in collaboration with the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia, Italy.
  • 2015 (February)

    The co-inventors, together with some colleagues including Navid Ghavami and Lorenzo Sani, found UBT Srl (Umbria Bioengineering Technologies) as an innovative biomedical Startup company. UBT increases the size of the company’s equity capital due to the entrance of new shareholders, i.e. colleagues having expertise in financial, marketing, administration. UBT becomes an academic Spin Off of the Department of Physics and Geology of the University of Perugia, Italy.
  • 2015

    The prototype MammoWave II is constructed.
  • 2016 (February)

    Clinical trials start at Perugia Hospital, using MammoWave II.
  • 2016

    The prototype MammoWave III, an updated version of MammoWaveII, is constructed.
  • 2017 (June)

    Clinical trials start at Foligno Hospital, using MammoWave III.
  • 2017 (July)

    UBT increases the size of the company’s equity capital due to the entrance of new shareholders, one of which is DIGITEC SRL ( http://digiteclecco.com/ ). DIGITEC SRL is a leader in designing hardware and software systems capable of acquiring, processing and transferring medical data; thus, it represents for UBT a strategic partner.
  • 2017 (August)

    Our project MammoWave is awarded with an EU H2020 grant SMEINST Phase I.
  • 2018

    The prototype MammoWave EU, an updated version of MammoWave III, is constructed.
  • 2018 (July)

    Our project MammoWave is awarded with an EU H2020 grant SMEINST Phase II.
  • 2019

    BrainWave, the novel device for brain stroke detection and classification, is successfully tested on phantoms
  • 2019

    UBT installs a device at London South Bank University, , London, UK, activating Industry Part Funded PhDs and Fellowships focused on the optimization of the microwave apparatus for breast cancer detection, on its extension to other diagnostic applications, and on AI- Artificial Intelligence.
